Way!Notes from Faculty Presentation on 9/2/11

  • Looking for students to act "The B.A.I.N. Way," and when they do teachers reward them by signing off on their rewards card. Teachers will be looking for students acting "The B.A.I.N. Way" in different focus areas within the school (hallways, classrooms, and transitions). There will be one focus for each week and teachers are only looking for students acting "The B.A.I.N. Way" in that one focus area.
  • Reward program will begin on Monday, September 12. Advisory teachers are asked to begin rolling out this program on that date. Sample timeline:
    • Monday, September 12 - discuss briefly what "The B.A.I.N. Way" is, how students get points, and the rewards system
    • Wednesday, September 14 - put pockets and rewards cards into student planners
    • Friday, September 16 - Select an Advisory activity from the sheet to complete in Advisory (Remember to keep the product from this activity to give to PBIS committee to use in a future event with students.
  • Rewards cards are located in a pocket, attached to the back cover of the student planner. Each teacher must give out 3 rewards each day. Teachers are asked to use language that explains why they are receiving the award and which criteria of "The B.A.I.N. Way" the student demonstrated.
  • Reward Manager, Emily, will be located at the school store during Advisory period. Students can "cash in" their points during Advisory. A student needs at least three points to get a reward. (Reward station will not be open until Monday, September 19th). Emily will also be making public service announcements during lunches the week of 9/16 to reinforce how the rewards program will work.
